At Insights West, Steve’s role is to guide the firm and maintain its focus of bringing big-firm, global experience to play, with western regional dedication and local community engagement. What better way to satisfy his yen for adventures in research while helping business and community leaders to realize their goals – a key investment in the social and economic future of the region. Always a people-person, Steve strives to create a work environment that cultivates originality, trust, hard work, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
None of this happened overnight. For over 20 years, Steve has been perfecting the art and science of market research, leveraging the incredible technology-based advances in the industry to ever more effectively tackle clients’ challenges and opportunities. For over 18 years, Steve oversaw Angus Reid’s, and then Ipsos-Reid’s Western division, growing it to become the dominant player and largest provider of market research in Western Canada, triple the size of its next nearest competitor. Of course, he didn’t do it alone—Steve managed up to 60 client services staff in Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Winnipeg and even Houston Texas, who helped him get there. He knows what it’s like to grow a business, manage change, and have fun doing it.
Steve has called greater Vancouver home all his life, was educated at Simon Fraser University (BBA-Marketing, 1990) and leads a busy life in the community with coaching and getting involved in his kids’ school and sports activities. He enjoys snowboarding in winter, summer holidays in the Okanagan, hockey and windsurfing, and can often be seen getting on his bike as he commutes to work. All work and no play? No way.
