Insights West is pleased to announce that Dr. Angus Reid and Steve Mossop have jointly formed a strategic venture and have created a new company called the Angus Reid Forum.
As part of this partnership, Angus Reid Forum has acquired the assets of Insights West’s panel of 30,000 Canadians previously known as the “Your Insights Panel”, which will be rebranded today as the Angus Reid Forum. The Your Insights Panel has been developed over a 5-year period and has executed over 1,000 studies and 500,000 surveys, 300+ press releases and has accurately called 23/23 elections.
Dr. Reid will be Chairman of the Board of this new entity, and Steve will become President and CEO and will lead the team of panel managers, scriptwriters and researchers here in Vancouver, with plans to open a Toronto office by the end of the year.
As part of the rebranding, Angus Reid Forum has significant plans to grow the panel to 100,000 people by the end of year through a unique combination of social media and online advertising as well as strategic partnerships with a number of vendors and clients. They plan to build this into Canada’s most reputable and largest research panel of Canadians across the country.

Steve will continue to own Insights West and will split his efforts equally between the two companies. The Angus Reid Forum will provide panel sample for Insights West as well as the Angus Reid Institute, and will also be ready to serve the needs of other research companies and end clients across Canada on a going forward basis via sample provided by the platform as well as survey scripting capabilities and data analysis services.

Dr. Reid is Canada’s best-known and longest-practicing pollster. He’s spent more than four decades asking people what they think and feel about top social, governance and economic issues. From 1979 to 2001, he was founder and CEO of Angus Reid Group, which grew into the largest research firm in Canada, with revenues of $60 million. It was sold to Ipsos SA in 2000. In 2003, he joined his son Andrew’s research software start up, Vision Critical, as CEO. When he retired as executive chair in 2014, Vision Critical had 600 employees worldwide and revenues over $100 million. Dr. Reid has written numerous columns on economic, social and governance issues as well as the best-seller, “Shakedown: How the New Economy is Changing our Lives” (1996). He has a B.A. and an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Manitoba, and in 1974 he received a Ph.D. in Sociology from Carleton University in Ottawa. He is the recipient of a Canada Council Doctoral Fellowship, the Entrepreneur of the Year award, and was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends (2010).
Steve Mossop is President of Insights West, a progressive, full-service marketing research company that offers insights-driven solutions via leading-edge tools and normative databases to clients in Western Canada. Incorporated in 2012, Insights West now has 20 employees and has publicly released hundreds of different opinion polls and has correctly predicted the outcomes of 23/23 elections. Steve is a frequent public speaker in British Columbia. His past accomplishments include winning BCAMA’s 2001 Marketer of the Year Award, and winning Business in Vancouver’s “Top 40 Under 40” award in 2006. Steve was chair of the BCAMA’s Senior Executive Program for four years, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University with a concentration in Marketing.
